I survived week 1!!!
Hello friends and family!!!
I just have to say this is so weird to be on the sending side of this email instead of the receiving! So, that's kinda cool!
Okay, I'm not really a writer but I guess I'll just give you some highlights from starting the MTC! Life has been pretty crazy but also soo fun! I have loved every second of my time as a missionary! (Including the times when I forget to eat food and end up feeling sick hahah) But anyway, onto some cool highlights!
First of all, I HAVE THE BEST DISTRICT!!! They are all so fun and we make classes fun! There are 15 of us, which is a HUGE district for ASL! Fun fact, one of the Sisters in my district (Sister Erickson) had the same ASL teacher I had! She's from St. George and my ASL teacher moved up to Davis for my senior year from there! That was a fun connection to find out!
There are four of us Sisters going to the California Anaheim Mission! The rest are going to NY, WA, AR, UT, and I can't remember where else... oh well they're all awesome though! My companions are really awesome too! Oh!
So, I'm in a trio! I'm not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed to see that I was in a trio at first. But I wouldn't have it any other way! I love both of them so much and we've had fantastic companion studies where we all have different points of view and 3 is way better than one! My companions are Sister Meyer from Florida and Sister Jobe from Arizona.
Anyways, my week was short, but so filled with amazing spiritual experiences and tender mercies! Since we're doing Zoom there's this thing called breakout rooms. This is where the teachers can randomly assign us to groups and it pulls up with just those people in a chat room. So the other day we were learning about how to meet people in ASL and those signs, so we were put into breakouts to practice. In my break before classes that day I had started following a few people on Facebook and I noticed that I had something in common with Sister Bray and Sister Brimhall. I really wanted to find a way to talk to them about it and see if my suspicions were true. And GUESS WHAT?! When I opened my first breakout room it was with Sister Bray and my second one was with Sister Brimhall! It was so cool to talk to them and connect and it was a really amazing example of how God listens to your desires.
Okay, one last thing before I end. If you have not tried horchata mixed with Dr. Pepper... you need to! One of the Sisters in my district said that it was the best drink so I naturally had to try it and that is now my go-to drink! I love it, so if you try it I hope you love it too!
Have a great week! THIS IS the work!!! Love you all!
Sister Snell 🤟
